Jonathan Upton

Jonathan is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, having qualified in 2002, working first at Arthur Andersen and then Deloitte. 

Following a two years in the City working for Pradera, a specialist Retail Property Fund Manager, he joined Selwyn Lim who had recent founded Calnea Analytics, helping to grow the business to become the UK’s largest provider of property market intelligence to government and the property industry.

Since the successful sale and acquisition by Landmark Information (A Daily Mail and General Trust plc group company), Jon founded Risq Ventures Ltd with Antony and Colin.

Jon believes that our team are well placed to delivery innovative solutions leveraging the power of data from across the industry to improve the way the lending market functions.


Colin Blears

Colin has a wealth of experience delivering strategic solutions as part of PropTech, FinTech and legal businesses.

Over the years he has worked on a diverse range of compliance and regulatory projects:

  • Mortgage fraud prevention systems for top 6 Mortgage Lenders,

  • Designed new systems to support new legislation of Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) and Energy Performance Certificates (EPC’s) for both Domestic and Non-Domestic buildings.

  • Digital Signatures platform for e-conveyancing

  • Sales Progression and property chain tools for Estate Agents

  • Mining Risk assessment (inc Con29M) due diligence for conveyancers

Colin is passionate about problem solving and delivering creative solutions with our development team. He manages strategic relationships with government and private sector organisations including Land Registry, Ordnance Survey, HMRC, VOA, Lenders and Credit Reference Agencies.



Tony’s first career was as an Insurance Broker, co-founding a Top 50 UK Insurance Risk and Financial Services business. 

In 2004, he lead the formation of Argyll Environmental Ltd, rapidly becoming the leading provider of due diligence services to the UK Top 20 law firms. 

Following a successful sale and acquisition by Landmark Information (A Daily Mail and General Trust plc group company), he took over management and strategic responsibility for two market-leading Landmark trading divisions. 

Tony’s third career as co-founder of Risq Ventures is building on his many years' experience of providing high-quality service to property professionals.


Ben Furlong

Ben is an advocate for the ability of data and technology to revolutionise how legal services are provided. After training as an environmental consultant Ben joined Argyll Environmental providing environmental due diligence services to the legal, property and financial sectors. Specialising in contaminated land and flood risk assessments, Ben contributed to the development of market leading desktop assessment services by combining data with innovative assessment methods. 

Since then Ben has supported some of the country’s most prestigious commercial conveyancing firms acting as their Service Delivery Manager while at SearchFlow. Ben’s approach has always been to actively listen to his clients to understand their problems and then develop technology led solutions.

Ben firmly believes in the opportunities presented by emerging data and technology in delivering: both business efficiency for professional firms, and improved interaction with legal services for consumers.
